The Brooklyn Sangria

The Brooklyn Sangria

Tea has so much potential. As a longtime industry kid & culinary nerd, I love infusing my beverage recipes with tea! The Brooklyn blend is inspired by Jamaica, the super sweet hibiscus tea present in every taco shop worth its tajin.

Here's how I like to drink my Brooklyn blend.

You'll need...

- Brooklyn tea
- Boiling water
- a bottle of red wine of your choice, nothing fancy. (try NA wine by Surely for NA!)
- coconut or white sugar
- fruit
- ice

Makes about 32 oz, give or take...

- First, steep the tea.
Bring filtered water to a boil & steep 6 Heaping Tbsps of tea in 4 cups of water.

- Let it steep for 6-7 minutes & then strain & allow to cool a bit.

- Stir in 1/4 cup (or more if you like sweet) of golden coconut sugar.
You can use any sugar but I like the complex flavor & low glycemic index of coconut sugar.

Add sliced strawberries, grapes & peaches plus a couple of cinnamon sticks (or other fruit of choice) to a pitcher, then add the Brooklyn tea.

- Next add a bottle of red wine to the mix. I like Gamay for a light sangria & Tempranillo for a bold one. Give it all a stir & pour over glasses of ice.

- Top with more fruit & maybe even some little umbrellas. Enjoy on your fire escape or the couch or in the tub. Salud!
